Hi everyone! Time again for another JACOB UPDATE! It's been a while since the last one and Jacob is a few weeks shy of the one year old mark. I can't believe it sometimes. So what is Jacob doing? Well, he has 6 very white and pearly teeth. He is a big smiler so we see them a lot. He "talks" all the time. He has several words that a recognizable to all of us..."this," "that", "Doggie", "Ducky","Daddy", "BYE-BYE" (sounds like Die-Die, but he does it with the requisite hand waving), "Book" (sounds like DOOK)"Yes" and Gigi, which is the name of the director of his daycare center. He calls her Gigi and he has decided that is my name as well. He says No by pushing the thing away, yelling or when that doesn't work, crying...he just doesn't say the word No yet...I'm sure he'll make up for that soon. Jake is very mobile. He is a quick and resourceful crawler. He stands up with and without support all the time, but only walks holding on to something. I don't think he'll be walking by his first birthday but you never know. He can crawl with toys on each hand, so he doesn't quite get the point of walking yet. Jake has lots of favorite games. Peek-a-boo is an all time favorite, he will play anywhere, anytime, with anything. He'll put a toy in front of his face and giggle wildly while you say "Where is Jakey?'" He loves to clap and say "YEY". He loves his shape sorter and has gotten quite good with it. He loves his stacking cups. A favorite game is dropping things and saying "AUT" (his version of (AUT-OH). It's also fun watching the Pugs go after food thrown from his high chair. Consequently the Pugs have gotten enormous, especially Lucy, who had a weight problem to begin with. The Pugs think Jake is the greatest, they follow him everywhere (looking for food). Jakey is a bookworm. He loves to turn the pages of books. His favorite books are the Baby Einstein language book (Thanks Aunt Noelle), The Very Quiet Cricket (Thanks Aunt Cuz), and The Touch and Feel Wild Animals book (Thanks Abuela). as the weather is getting nicer he has been outside more, which he just loves. He always has a different outfit when I pick him up from daycare because he gets so dirty outside. Yesterday we played outside for quite a while and went for a walk in the woods with our new jogging stroller (thank you Uncle Willie and Aunt Noelle). Jakey is as handsome as ever. He is still got those blue eyes! Love, Nela |

Jacob is now officially 9 months old as of yesterday. Time really flies! Jake is doing very well, learning new things everyday. He is a great crawler and is so happy to be able to go anywhere he wants too (almost!). He is a very FAST crawler too, I can attest to that! Jacob loves the pugs, his Daddy and his daycare teachers. He also loves his Mommy, but still calls her "Da" which is what he calls almost everything. He does call Brian "DaDee." His best friend at daycare is Max, who is 11 months old. Jacob follows him around and always wants to do what Max does. Jacob is very expressive and talks and talks all the time, but not in English yet. He asks questions: Da? Da? says Hello: Dadadadadada! Says I LOVE this: DA!DA!DA! You get the idea. But "I hate this, please stop immediately" is: Mamamamamamama. Go figure. Jacob had a great Christmas and has lots of toys to play with. He first shakes the toy to find out what noise it makes, then he bangs it together with another toy, then it goes in the mouth. What fun! He has several cars and has figured out how to make them go by pushing them. He also loves to play his little piano. Jacob is eating lots now, his favorite is french fries. He will also eat teething biscuits, bagels, cherrios, arrowroot cookies and cooked pieces of vegetable. He goes through 4-6 jars of baby food a day. He is getting his two top teeth, a tiny piece of the right one is poking out. Ouch! Sleeping is still a challenge: he is sleeping for longer stretches, thank goodness, but still not through the night. We are all working on it! Jacob has his own room now and it looks so nice with his bunny quilt and matching pillow that his Grandma Connie made for him. Jacob likes to try and pet the bunnies on the quilt like he does his pugs. Sweet Boy! |
